This is the first beautiful, colorful, whole-world dream I've had in years! Like Lilo & Stitch meets Lord of the Rings.
Elves, Dwarves and Humans survive on an unstable planet. Wars, diseases, famines and all sorts of natural catastrophes of all kinds beat them down. The Dwarves live deep within the earth where it is consistently warm and stable. The Humans live on the surface, foraging for food on the grasslands, while the Elves, possibly the most fortunate of the three races, live on the beaches and tropical islands. The constant hurricanes and cyclones over the planet's oceans create unbelievable swells, which led to the Elves perfecting the dangerous sport of surfing. During a war with the Dwarves for underground resources, a young Elf stumbled upon a lost, ancient alien device. A large disc, quartered by four colors and surrounded by large, ancient humanoid statues. He activates it, and for the first time in anyone's memory, the planet's surface stabilizes, terraforming. The races learn seasons and years. The elf's family divides the new world empire among the three races, settling their capital on a vast plain, cornered by a mountain and a beach.
A young elven boy becomes the new Emperor of the Dwarven Realm when his older cousin is arrested for crimes against the Dwarven people. He and his mother, father and kid sister move into the newly constructed palace in the side of the Dwarven mountain. A new anti-gravity technology has been invented and is being used in a variety of applications, including construction that would normally take years takes minutes, is being used to construct the palace and empire at large. The boy, and most of his people, use it to surf any solid surface with anti-gravity surfboards, even if they are far away from the ocean. The first thing he does to the palace is make it his own personal playground, with slides and anti-gravity technology everywhere. He dedicates a whole wing to a surfing museum. He quickly befriends two wards of the last emperor, a brother and sister. The sister spends all her time journaling on her computer, while the emperor convinces the brother to play his favorite computer game: boxing with a robot. While playing, the emperor discovers another application for the anti-gravity technology; projecting a boxing glove, and a buzz saw, like a missile. Seeing the danger in this application, his first official decree as emperor is to outlaw the use of the anti-gravity technology as a weapon. This immediately boosts his public image.
The sister discovers the game they were playing, and says her brother got in trouble in school for fighting, and tattles to her parents. When the parents of the wards come to visit the palace out of concern, the emperor learns the horrible truth why the two children are wards of the empire: their parents are victims of the Soot Plague. A horribly deforming disease, limbs and body parts are carbonized, leaving behind only black soot marks. No one is allowed to touch them, even when the emperor wanted to greet them properly. The mother was also with child when she contracted the disease. When they leave, the only thing the emperor could think of to make himself feel better is surfing, so he surfs over every surface of his palace. When he finds its just not the same as a real wave, he collapses in a corner and cries. His mother finds him and comforts him.
