Green

A dream I just had; haven't had one in a long time! A post-apocalyptic sci-fi western:

In the not-so-distant future, human society all over the planet has collapsed into a dystopian anarchy; the world economy has imploded, all the planet's fossil fuel resources are exhausted, and all the humans have escaped into the wilderness from the polluted, uninhabitable cities. Palmer considers himself the roughest, toughest frontiersman, believing he has what it takes to save mankind from extinction. He hears a rumor of a scientist hidden deep in the woods who has the solution for all mankind's problems and he wants to be involved. After fighting his way through countless obstacles and proving himself to the scientist's followers, he discovers the awful truth: the scientist is the leader of a cult, who's followers, including a close friend of Palmer's, volunteer for the scientist's genetic experiments. His goal is to turn the human race into trees that never depend on fossil fuels or emit carbon dioxide. Palmer argues there's a reason humans evolved as animals and trees evolved as plants; nature finds its own balance. But the mad scientist will have none of it. Now Palmer has to not only foil the mad scientist's plans, but escape with his life and humanity!

The Seven Year Itch

Did anyone see this iconic Marilyn Monroe film from 1955? Even though its very dated, the theme is timeless! Does anyone think its translatable? Mayb with Jason Bateman/Ed Helms/Steve Carrell and Megan Fox/Scarlett Johansson!

Neverending Story Remake

The Neverending Story, written by Michael Ende, is a German fantasy novel, made into a 1984 film, two sequels, a 1995 animated series, and a live-action miniseries. I have to say that as "successful" as this franchise has been, it has NOT done the book justice. I've read the book, and it is much richer and has much more potential than the films and TV shows suggest. With the success of franchises like Harry Potter, Narnia and Lord of the Rings, and advances in technology (CGI and performance capture used in such films as Beowulf and Avatar), I think now is the time to really breath some life into such a fantastic book. More importantly, stick to the book as much as possible, showcasing what made the book great. Naturally, it would have to be a two-part movie; just as the original films (but not so loose).

Big Thunder Mountain

I was just thinking that they haven't done anything with Frontierland in a long time. After the Pirates of the Caribbean phenomenon, why not a Big Thunder film? Something like City Slickers meets National Treasure meets the Goonies: A group of college students study a legend about a huge deposit of gold underneath a hoodoo called Big Thunder Mountain. The Apache call it Big Thunder because the hoodoo is so saturated with gold, it attracts lightning. A mining colony was built to excavate the site, but the town was lost, and so was the mountain. After one of the student finds a map marking the location, he convinces his friends to chase down the gold and make history, but they have some competition from some professional criminals. The backstory of Big Thunder involves greed, ghosts and an Apache curse.

Master

Another dream I had last night! Elaborate, and about vampires; go figure!:

The kid can get anything he wanted and get anyone to do anything he wanted. Whether through manipulation, flattery or intimidation, he was always in control. One night, he convinced his girlfriend and a couple of his friends to explore a tomb that was supposedly haunted. Once inside, the torches seem to light and blaze on their own. The kid didn't admit he was somehow controlling the flames himself. Once they explored the deepest, darkest, dankest parts of the tomb, they find themselves in a very hospitable chamber. The only indication that this was not a live humans' residence was the coffins. Immediately, vampires rose to attack! The kid managed to slay most by himself, but one giant bat monster took more than a stake to the heart; as the kid pinned it down, his girlfriend sliced off its head. One remained, but-
The kid is relishing his new afterlife as a vampire. He is the Master's new second-in-command, responsible for recruiting and training new vampires into the family. The weather is heavily over-cast, so they can still function in the daylight with heavy sunscreen and shades. The kid turns over 20 of his classmates, like the Triplets: three identical sisters that remind him of Dracula's brides; and even the scruffy weirdo with pretty eyes. He complains about his constant boner, and the kid grabs it saying, "We'll take care of that later." Like everybody else in his life, he's just using his girlfriend, and now as a vampire, he can do things he could never do before. He even made his own father into a bug-eating Renfield!
He tests the vampires' weaknesses; he lines them up single file and forces them to pass along a crucifix. Most have burnt hands, like they held something red-hot, but a couple of them, including the kid himself, didn't burn. The scruffy weirdo makes a conspicuous kill, drawing the attention of vampire hunters! They ambush the tomb, undoing the Master's new work. The kid kills some, even surviving a stake in the heart, but the Master insists he escapes with the strongest. In the tomb, they face certain doom, even though they race to escape the first clear sunrise in weeks.
As he, his girlfriend, and another strong one leap over buildings, trying to outrun the hunters and find a safe place to hide, he savagely wipes the blood from his face and slathers on the sunscreen at the same time. He flashes back to an intimate conversation he had with the Master once: "You think I am the only Master? True immortals are rare, and Masters are even more rare. Vampirism is not just a physical condition; it is not a spiritual damnation. It is a state of mind. Few have the will and the mind to defy superstition, to defy restrictions, to defy Destiny, to defy Death itself. To be a true immortal..." As the unfiltered sun dawns, they incinerate in its rays... except the kid. He withstands the harsh light of day.
The kid sits in a quiet diner wearing shades; the sun beaming through the windows. If we didn't know better, he looks hungover. The waitress approaches, "One of those nights, huh?" The kid looks at her. "So, can I interest you in something to drink?" The kid removes his shades, revealing his vampire eyes. "As a matter of fact, you can..." The waitress's friendly smile disappears.

Mold

I watched a nature show, where an ant had a fungal infection: it's body and mind were deteriorating. Another ant carried it as far away from the colony as possible to die. When it did, it started sprouting mushrooms. Wouldn't that be a disturbing zombie film?! A airborne fungus that affected the human race, causing live bodies to decompose from the inside out and their minds turning into something worse than Alzheimer's/dementia. And once they finally dropped dead and cracked open from decomposition, the spores would go flying into the atmosphere. What kind of post-apocalyptic world would that be?

Slot Machine

Based on a dream I had, I imagine an action thriller:

In Las Vegas, there is a machine; made up of countless rooms in a seemingly infinite maze. It's a death trap; with an entire casino theme, each room can either kill you violently or let you escape. It's up to the victim to play the odds. Owned by the mob, the Slot Machine is an entertaining way to deal with gamblers who can't pay their debts, and only the biggest whales get to bet on how long the players stay alive. A retired military man is talked into going to Las Vegas for his bachelor party by his gambling addict buddies, only for them all to end up in the Slot Machine. Only with his skills and training can he keep himself and his friends alive! But for how long? Nobody escapes the Slot Machine...

Justice League ripoff

The title is self-explanatory. Being a fan of superheroes, I want to invent some of my own:

The universe is full of life. Planets, solar systems, even whole galaxies hold civilizations of all kinds, species of all kinds. Compared to all that, Earth is small and fragile, almost endearing. For some reason, Earth is is very attractive to all kinds of lifeforms, whether the wandering explorer or the conquering empire. Perhaps because of its infantile nature, it calls out to be protected and nurtured. So, the Constables just fell into existence.

Density- The De-facto leader of the Constables, he has been living on Earth for a very long time. Because of his biological density, he is physically infallible: unstoppable, immovable and immortal. No mass can withstand his force and no force can overcome his mass. He is invulnerable, whether by natural or unnatural means. Gerontologically speaking, he's unchangeable by time. His personality suits him: stubborn and uncompromising. His moral code is unquestionable. Even when he is occasionally wrong, he's impossible to argue with. If you want to get to Earth, you have to get through him!

Will- A being of almost pure energy, there is nothing he can't do. He emits an energy that can do anything he has the will to do. With his natural willpower, he can fly, create force fields, telekinesis, and pretty much anything he can imagine. A naturally free spirit, he's an unusual fit in the Constables. However, like most well-meaning, good-natured species, he has a soft spot for Earth, and would rather use his abilities to help than to harm.

Transmitter- Every lifeform has a spark; an electromagnetic signature that not only indicates life, but allows organisms to think and feel. He can tap into that spark. Being telepathic and empathic to almost all lifeforms, he has a sensitive, gentle disposition and a deep respect for all life. He loves nothing more than peace and communication. Perhaps because of the nature of his abilities, he is a confirmed pacifist. However, he has a dark side. Though he loathes this about himself, what can be pulled can also be pushed. While he can dream-walk, he feels uncomfortable invading people's subconscious. When severely provoked, he can manipulate that very spark he treasures in all life, causing mind control, illusions, and even pain or terror. He would rather never use his power to harm or control anyone, and the other Constables would never ask him to.

Tempus- A being that exists outside of time, he can control the flow of time around him. Originally thought to be a simple speedster, it turns out that from his perspective, time can be slowed, sped up or even reversed. It's implied that time does not take a toll on his biology either. While seemingly playful and childish, he takes his power very seriously and understands the consequences of his actions. He only changes the past or takes a peek at the future in extreme circumstances.

Vision- Whether its with her mind or her actual eyes, there is nothing she can't see. Telescopic, microscopic, macroscopic, infrared, x-ray, remote vision and overall clairvoyance. She can see energies and forces that are otherwise invisible to human eyes. She can even see through chain of events: postcognition and precognition. Seeing the past is simple enough for her, considering there is only one path of research, but depending how far from the present and what she's looking for, the future is much sketchier. These powers can take a toll on her sense of reality, but she is a valued asset to the team.

Mainframe- The man with the perfect mind, there is nothing he can't learn, comprehend or remember. Extremely useful from the background, he is often called upon for information of all kinds and a variety of mental skills (computer hacking, logical problem solving, strategy, etc). He has also produced a variety of inventions to aide the Constables. However, he occasionally tires of his passive role in the team and takes advantage of his inventions to join the fight directly. Using a variety or suits, armor and weapons, he is just as capable as any in combat. He's even proven to be an exceptional martial artist. His only flaw to speak of is his habit to over-think. He leaves little room for imagination. He almost never relies on his instincts or emotions and puts all his efforts behind his brain. Depending on the situation, this can be a hindrance or a benefit.

TAGUC- Adenine. Thymine. Guanine. Cytosine. Uracil. These are the five nucleobases found in all life, and all five are swimming free in her system. A biokinetic metamorph, she can become whatever she wants by sheer will. She can easily mimic any existing lifeform, but where's the fun in that? She is very imaginative when it comes to her form. Though technically genderless, she identifies herself as female. Because of the nature of her biology, she may very well be immortal. She can produce a variety of microbes and pathogens and use them to both heal and harm. Like Transmitter, she has a deep respect for life, but isn't nearly as passive. Just the same, she is far from cruel. Eccentric would be a mild word to describe her.

Ghost- She possesses invisibility, intangibility and limited levitation. As a petty criminal, she used her powers to steal and spy, but when given the opportunity to assassinate, she decided she did not like the path she was on. From then on, she committed her life to justice, even if her methodologies are not strictly ethical. She does not always fit in with the Constables, but sometimes contributes to stealthier missions.

Void- He is, above all else, mysterious, if not terrifying. You'll know he's in the area, because you'll go partially blind, deaf, numb, immobile and dumb. At first, he was mistaken as a villain by the Constables; a presence that was terrorizing everyone in its path.. If it weren't for Transmitter, he couldn't communicate with anyone. Above anything else, he values peace. He tries to help when he can, but mostly remains a recluse. It's implied his original home was a black hole, but that is just a rumor. No one knows if he even looks like anything, but he insists he is male. Although it is his nature, he is trying to inhibit his ability to nullify all energies and forces around him, and as of late, he is perceived to be taking a (rather appealing) form.

The Circle- A rival group to the Constables, they are not nearly as powerful, but their almost symbiotic teamwork is impressive. Seok is terrakinetic; able to manipulate a variety of minerals. He is the most defensive of the four, taking the foreground in combat. He and Density are just too much alike; always butting heads. Shui is hydrokinetic, able to manipulate the water molecule in all its forms and phases. Very loyal and forgiving, she is the glue that holds the group together. She immediately forms a connection with Transmitter. Esen is aerokinetic, usually using her power to fly. She would rather escape conflict than confront, and only gets directly involved in fights to save her friends. She makes quick friends with both Tempus and Will, who soon compete for her affection. Agni has the most potential to be a villain. A pyrokinetic, he controls heat energy is a variety of ways. He lusts for action and violence. The only thing he values more than power is freedom, and there's nothing he hates more than villains that try to control or enslave. He stays within the Circle out of a sense of honor and a deep sense of loyalty and respect to Shui.

Flaming Fists of Fury

This isn't my favorite idea. It's too much like Firestarter or Jumper. But, I dreamt it, so here goes:

A petite blond with very short hair (girl?) in a leather jacket and jeans can throw fire-fists. She is going door to door (she has the addresses) sweet-talking her way into suburban houses looking for secret rooms in the basements where her people/family were captured/tortured/murdered by the families who swore to rid the world of their "unnatural abomination". She punches/burns her way to vengeance without spilling a drop of innocent blood, crossing houses off the list, one by one. But with every success, there is more danger, more children, more dogs. And people are getting singed...

Dark Fairy Tale

This is a creepy dream I had, with an unusually developed narrative. I like this one a lot:

A woman has lost her way while traveling. She wanders into a town and hears a crying child in an abandoned house. Being maternal, she tries to comfort the child. "Are you lost, little one?" The boy is a beast, a soulless monster. "Are you a werewolf?" "Yes." "Are you going to eat me?" "No, as long as you tell me a story..." The boy produces a storybook for the woman to read to him. She reads a story about a jealous prince who curses his brother's kingdom with a plague and turns the king's only son into a beast. The kingdom is shrouded in eternal darkness. But because the evil brother stole a witch's spellbook, the spells do not work properly and he loses control, being consumed with his own magic. Slowly, we see the story the woman is reading is parallel with her own situation. Even though the woman reads from the storybook every day, the story never ends, and with the wolf-boy's constant threats to eat her, she is trapped! One day, the boy demands, "I am lonely. I want a brother." And from the storybook, the woman finds a spell to summon a ghost. Although the presence of the ghost is just as frightening as the wolf-boy, the ghost is a kind, gentle, compassionate child. He is a comfort to the woman. Though the wolf-boy and the ghost are inseparable, the wolf-boy bullies the ghost. Over the years, the three become a tense family. One night, a sheriff invades the house, saying the woman is under arrest for harboring a werewolf. The sheriff is holding a crucifix, which the woman sees is burning him. The woman takes the crucifix from him and presses it to the sheriff's face. He is a vampire. She tortures him, "Tell me where your heart is and your suffering will end." The vampire sheriff points and the woman stakes him. He turns to dust. The story the woman reads reveals the plague over the kingdom is vampirism, and the vampires cannot truly die, even after they are slain. Their ashes return to their graves and resurrect. The only catch is they have no memory of the night they are slain. The catacombs beneath the kingdom are littered with the graves of vampires. Only a spell can finally end them. After many close calls, the woman is finally arrested and put on trial. We see the whole town is all vampires. The kingdom in the storybook and the town the woman is in are one and the same. The judge of the court is not only the king of the vampires, but the king's evil brother. The soulless beast is the heir to the throne and the ghost is his disembodied soul. The woman produces the storybook in vampire-filled court, and the storybook is revealed to be the witch's stolen spellbook. The spellbook has been reunited with it's witch. With it, she cures the plague, wipes out the vampires, restores the prince's soul and clears the darkness. When the witch's spellbook was stolen, she lost her power, her memory, her way. The only wrong she cannot (or will not?) right is cure the new king's lycanthropy.

Silly Crook Idea

This is a dream I had. I imagine it as a action comedy:

A crook is burglarizing a mansion with his crew. An impending disaster (which the crook may or may not have something to do with) threatens to burn the building to its foundations. The house has been evacuated. It's almost like a mall; a big open space in the center surrounded by rooms, 4 or 6 stories tall. The crook goes from room to room, floor to floor, swiping anything with any value that isn't nailed down (jewelry, suits, artwork). When he gets to the last room at the top floor, he finds a teen girl, dressed like a princess, playing with countless stuffed animals. A stupid, spoiled girl, she doesn't seem to know or care about the situation. The crook realized just by looking at her she has to be the most valuable thing in the house. Does he take advantage of the situation, or does he do the right thing for once? All he is sure of is the clock is ticking...

My Own Mythology

I'm familiar with God, with the Devil, with Mother Goddess, with Greek mythology, Norse mythology, on and on. So I then came up with this:

AIR

In the beginning, there was Chaos. All the energies and the masses of the universe bled together. There was everything and nothing; except Air. God of wind, sky and heaven. The Father Above is the god of Mind. God of civilization, reason, logic, wisdom, knowledge, invention, motion, intelligence, communication, judgement and the abstract. All that flies is sacred to him. Air was a being of pure consciousness that roamed throughout Chaos. He explored the entire universe that was Chaos and learned all of its secrets. Eventually, his wisdom was infinite and his knowledge was absolute. But he had no power or substance. He roamed and explored, never affecting Chaos around him. Until…

EARTH

After exploring all of Chaos, he discovered Earth. Goddess of ground, gravity and land. The Mother Below is the goddess of Body. Goddess of material, physical, order, fertility and the tangible. All that burrows is sacred to her. A being of pure substance, she was Air’s equal and opposite. Her body was solid and her fortitude was unquestionable. She was also a being without consciousness; silent and still. Air was immediately attracted to her. He flew over her and surrounded her and the two united. Air breathed consciousness into Earth and Earth pushed substance into Air. Both found they had a common desire for order and balance, so Air left Chaos behind and together they created the World. A place where they existed together in harmony, and there was balance. At least at first…

FIRE

Air and Earth’s first born was Fire, a being of pure energy. God of energy, sun, heat and light. The Savage Son is the god of Will. God of power, destruction, survival, freedom and virility. All that preys is sacred to him. His power was infinite and his hunger was insatiable. As soon as he was born, he brought light and warmth to the World. He energized and changed everything he touched. He energized his father, giving him power and force. He stimulated his mother, giving her sensations, such as pleasure and pain. Both Air and Earth were impressed and proud of their son, but in his wisdom, Air knew that with Fire in the World, there could be no balance. And soon enough, Fire had conquered the World and his parents, and neither Air nor Earth could resist him. Until…

WATER

Air and Earth soon had a daughter; Water. The Innocent Daughter is the goddess of Heart. Goddess of love, forgiveness, compassion, innocence, healing, art, emotion and beauty. All that swims is sacred to her. She was unlike any being that came before. She was Fire’s opposite and equal. She was a being of pure virtue; her love was limitless and her compassion was infinite. She flowed freely throughout the World, enriching and nourishing everything she touched. Everywhere she went, she was welcomed and embraced. She nourished her mother, and Earth felt emotions for the first time, such as joy and sorrow. She enriched her father, teaching Air concepts that he never knew before, such as morality and justice. For the first time, there was beauty in the World. But she was selfless; there was no energy she could resist, no substance she could deny. As soon as she was born, Fire desired his sister like he never desired anything in the World. In his wisdom, Air knew that if Fire and Water ever united, Water could very well quench his lust and sate his hunger, but it was also possible that Fire could permanently ruin and corrupt Water. Neither Air nor Earth could have that. With Water’s enrichment, both Air and Earth turned against Fire. Air drained and dissipated Fire’s energy and Earth absorbed and contained Fire’s might. Together, they exiled Fire far beneath the World, into Hell. Water was caressed between Air and Earth in the World, and there was balance. For a time…

THE SUN & THE MOON

Since Fire was a being of pure energy, he could never truly be contained, much less destroyed. Exiled from the World, he escaped into Chaos, free to roam throughout the universe as his father once did. Fire reveled in his freedom and in Chaos, but he was not satisfied. He was not interested in knowledge or exploration like his father was, but desired only power. With all his might, Fire separated the energies from the masses, rolling them respectively into stars and planets. He stirred and spun all in the universe, turning Chaos into the Cosmos. Fire ruled the universe, but he was still not satisfied. He was betrayed by his parents, exiled from his home, and denied the one thing he desired most: Water. Fire made it his mission to avenge himself. Fire went into the star closest to the World, and became the Sun. He roared and burned against the World, working to penetrate his home. Air ascended above the World to defend his wife and daughter, creating a barrier between the Cosmos and the World, called Heaven. But Air could not resist the Sun alone. However, Earth had a secret power: gravity. Earth could pull all that had substance toward her body, so Earth reached out to the nearest mass and pulled it toward the World. Water flowed into this mass and it became the Moon. Separate from the World, its presence was enough to resist and distract the Sun. Fire was finally defeated, and true balance finally came to the World.

LIFE

Once true balance was achieved in the World, a miracle happened: Air, Earth, Fire and Water all contributed to the creation of Life. Life had all the qualities of the Four. In his wisdom, Air knew that Life was precious and fragile, and could only grow and thrive if true balance was maintained. So the Four all retreated from the World for Life to exist in. Fire already existed in Hell and the Sun. Water not only existed in the Moon, but also fell into the gap between the realms, now called the Plane, constantly ebbing and flowing. Air ascended into Heaven, while Earth retreated into herself under the World’s surface, once again becoming silent and still. The World was vacant, except for Life. It was the first time since their meeting that Air and Earth were parted, but could forever more feel each others’ presence. And although Fire and Water never touched, they too could feel each others’ presence. The imprints of the Four still exist in the World now: the elements, the seasons, the phases. And even though the Four are gone from the World, Life could still feel their presence.

My Fantastic Dream

I used to have a recurring dream for years that I had the ability to fly, but lack control and power. No one believed I could fly, but I could only hover with all my effort. This dream I had changed that pattern:

New York City. Lower West Side. A boy is playing baseball in an alley. The buildings are several stories high with fire escapes, but they have a very suburban look. The boys' building is light blue and made of wood. The kids lose the ball over the roof and yell at the boy to go get it. He climbs the building with superhuman ease, almost like he's floating. When he reaches the top, he sees the ball on the ground on the other side. He flies down, picks it up, then flies right back up to the roof. No one else sees this. That night, the boy is looking out his bedroom window at the river, far to the right and back. The city lights are colorful. A woman appears on the fire escape. She looks somewhat like Julia Roberts, only for her inhumanly large eyes (at least according to the boy's perception). He knows from what he sees she's a precog. He sarcastically remarks, "So, can you see the future with those eyes?" His sister enters the room, surprised to see a stranger outside the window. "You can see her?!", the boy says. "Of course she can," says the woman, "she's your sister." The woman explains the boy is needed for an emergency at another world. The woman and the boy fly off, over the city. The river is full of giant talking alligators and Loch Ness monsters; the world is full of fantastic creatures that mortal beings know everything about but cannot perceive to be real. The pair fly into the cosmos, past planets and stars, to a planet not unlike our own, but much more advanced and complex and colorful (like Star Wars episode 2 and Fifth Element). The boy meets a group of his peers, mostly women. They explain that the boy has a unique ability, even among their own: to turn back time. He must use his ability to get a device away from a child in this world. The boy suspects they are not telling him the whole story. They further explain this child somehow got his hands on this device, which he will use for a frivolous reason, which will catalyze a chain of events that will lead to a worldwide disaster. The boy still believes he is being deceived somehow. They eventually admit they accidentally allowed this native child to get his hands on the device, which the boy does not believe. In his frustration, he grabs a woman by the face and says, "Show me..." He penetrates her mind, experiencing her memories. It is the same place, with the same group of people, only sometime in the past. They are arguing, plotting to steal the boy's power. The boy is speechless and frozen; not in fear, but in fury. He instantly flees. As he flies through the cosmos, the planets and stars melt and spin before his eyes, before he reaches home.

My Nightmare

You ever feel physically terrified in your dream? That's what happened in this real nightmare I had. I'll never watch Law & Order: SVU again.

In a colonial times in a coastal village, there was a tall, dark, foreboding house, perched on a coastal cliff, owned by a mysterious, well-to-do family. During the night, a group of children are playing on the property, planning a prank. The children disappear, never to be heard from again. In the present, the house has become a tourist attraction. Even in daylight, the house is as black and dead as it ever was. The inside is even worse; a space where light and hope come to die. The basement reveals a long deserted torture dungeon. Rusted from disuse but still thick with ancient gore. The place where the children were kidnapped, raped, tortured, mutilated and killed so long ago. All believe the ghosts of these children haunt that house today. The descendants of the family, who still own the property and are still very well-to-do, insist to all that the crimes of their ancestors are long past. But in the end, the truth is revealed: it is not the victims that haunt the house, but the ancestors. And not only that, the "family" are not related by blood at all. Only those children who survive and show true potential can evolve from prey to predator and be adopted into the fold. The evil never stopped. The family is still preying, in life and in death.

Call me Kay

I imagined what my life would be like if I was a vampire. So I came up with this dark idea.

DISCLAIMER: All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Call me Kay. Of course that’s not my human name, but nobody cares about that anyway. I’m on trial for murder. Sounds ironic for our kind, I know. I’m on trial for killing our own kind, specifically my sire. It’s not totally unheard of as you know, to turn on your maker, but what I did was particularly perverse. I cheated the system. The “power with age” rule, authority based on seniority, I threw that out the window. I’m an infant by our kinds’ standards, and yet I can hold my own with those of us in the three-digit area. Not only that, I’m a serial killer. I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen to me. I could be executed, or spend an eternity in a block of molten steel. I figured if there was any a time to write about myself, in case anyone cared, it would be now. I’ll start from the top.
I’ve only been vampyr for a few years, not even a decade. Like I said: infant. As a human I was just old enough to legally drink, I was flunking out of college, and I was a total whore. I contradicted every venereal disease known to man, some of which I kept. My human life was worthless. I think I met my sire on the internet. He said his name was Fred. He had thinning blond hair and a mean face. I thought he looked ugly when he smiled. He was a big guy, tall and built. I think he was self-conscious about his man-gut, but I thought it was sexy. He owned a cute little beach house, which disguised an interior full of WWII memorabilia from Germany and Japan, which made me uncomfortable at first. I was going out with him for a few months, and the more I had gotten to know him, the less I liked him. He’d often bitch about the lover he lost to drugs “so long ago” and every once in a while he would make some comment about “the Jews”. Why did I keep coming back for more? Because he was rich. He liked to buy me fancy dinners and expensive gifts. Plus, he had a beer-can dick he liked to pound me into the ground with, which I didn’t mind. I guess he didn’t care that I was diseased. I’m sure he knew, but for some reason I don’t remember the conversation. I never thought anything of the fact that he was only free after dark, or that he never actually ate or drank anything in front of me. Now I realize he made me think whatever he wanted me to think. I’ll always resent that. Finally, I concluded he was a Nazi. I decide he wasn’t worth my time anymore. And then he bit me. At the time I didn’t realize what was happening, accept that I was being attacked somehow. I figured that if he was killing me, it was no big loss. I was barely conscious, could barely breathe, and the next thing I knew something was pouring into my mouth. It was like I’ve been drinking nothing but water my whole life and then was suddenly chugging grain alcohol for the first time. But instead of choking, my body had the opposite reaction. You know when you climax and there’s a look of pain on your face? Well flip it. It felt like rocket fuel, but somehow I couldn’t get enough. And then it stopped. It was the last thing I remembered.
You ever read those ghost stories about somebody who doesn’t realize they just died? I woke up like that. I was suddenly conscious, without a thought in my head. My energy level was through the roof. I felt like I could sprint a hundred miles, leap over a building and rip a car in half with my bare hands at the same time. But most of all I felt something like a combination of hunger and thirst that I had to sate that instant. I tried to get a sense of my surroundings, and the first thing I picked up is a big, throbbing, hot flash of red. Not only did I see, hear and feel this thing all at once, but I smelled it; and it smelled so fucking good. All that energy went into me lunging at that throbbing red thing. I instantly bit into it and the juices blasted down my throat. Oh my fucking god. Every sweet, savory, salty flavor I ever enjoyed didn’t even compare to what I was tasting. It was hot and rich, like drinking chocolate, but so much better. The flavor and the texture and the heat was enough to make me cream my pants. I was sucking on it harder than a baby sucks on his mama’s tit, until every last drop was gone. My whole body was bathing in warmth and relief, and then I finally saw what was really going on around me. I was in a basement with raw earth for a floor. There wasn’t any light whatsoever in there and yet I could practically count the crumbs of dirt hugging the walls. In fact I was coated in the stuff. I also noticed that I was soaked in my own filth. There was a fresh hole in the ground, a fresh corpse at my feet, and Fred was sitting in the corner, smiling that ugly smile at me. He said flatly that he already had breakfast earlier and it was about time I woke up. The corpse was young, male. Other than that the details escape me. You would think I would be screaming my head off or frozen in shock or reacting in some way, but I just looked at it like I would’ve looked at a dead leaf. What the fuck just happened?
His real name was Friedrich, and he actually was a professional German officer some 70 years back. He never actually met Hitler personally, but he believed in everything the man stood for, even though Fred was worthy of a pink triangle himself. He explained he was vampyr because he tried to bake the wrong prisoner. I didn’t inquire further. Not that I wasn’t curious, but I didn’t want him to think I was interested in his life story. Besides, I didn’t want to hear the details. Not really. He explained a lot of things to me. That I actually died, that my body purged itself of all its fluids, that I need to drink my weight in blood on a nightly basis in order to function, then piss the plasma away after; made sense that all that liquid went somewhere. He told me I need to be sealed away somehow from the light of day. Something about how the combination of light and heat in the atmosphere makes our systems completely shut down and we have to either bury ourselves in the ground, sleep in a coffin or some other sealed space. Otherwise, we become common cadavers, and then Nature will have its way with us extremely quickly. He encouraged me to kill pretty much anyone who wasn’t white. He said he can smell a Jew a mile away. I could smell anything a mile anyway, but the distinction was really too subtle for me to care. He taught me to glamour people; make them think whatever I wanted them to think. Those first few nights I was high as a kite. First time I looked in the mirror I almost pissed myself. As Meryl Streep once said, “Not a blemish, not a pore.” Lemme tell you, I had the shittiest skin in life, but as vampyr? It was like the pizza was blast-washed right off my bone-china face. Every zit, every scar, every blotch. Even my tattoo was gone. And my eyes, I mean damn! I thought that were green before, but now they smoldered. I was fucking beautiful. And then once I got over everything, I came to realize I was Fred’s bitch. Everything I did was at his word. I was going to spend an eternity at his beck and call? Fuck that. He had to go.
It wasn’t too hard. He always went under early. I just figured if he was gonna die, his blood shouldn’t go to waste. I put on a gauntlet from his collection, cupped his mouth with it, and dug in. Of course he woke up, but I knew if I kept hold, he’d be done for. Bye bye, mein leiber herr. His blood was still like battery acid, but this time something happened. I could taste Friedrich himself in the blood, like I could sometimes taste my human victims. I tasted his German vocabulary. I tasted that lover he had before Hitler rose to power. I tasted his military career. I tasted his anguish over D-day and his need to survive and escape. I tasted his contempt for American culture as he settled in his new home. I tasted how amused he was by “flower power”. I tasted the highs he got from the 70s, and his annoyance with the 80s. I tasted his serious consideration of sleeping the century away (apparently we can do that). I tasted how for the first time in decades he actually felt something when he read Fight Club. I realized he wasn’t fighting me anymore. Either he was too weak or he just gave up, but when he was dry, that was weird. The empty husk that was Friedrich collapsed into nothing as I let it fall. I smiled when I tasted his bank accounts on my tongue. Everything he had is mine. Everything he was is mine. It was my turn to be the alpha dog.

Desmodus

As I said before, I love vampire stories. I'm just starting to read the original Dracula. Francis Ford Coppola's film was my favorite. When Dracula became a giant bat monster, I got an idea: what if the human race had a natural predator? How would the world, and human society, be different? This is a sci-fi action horror miniseries that you would see on SyFy channel. 300 feels like a good comparison in style.

The time is the present, but you wouldn't know it by looking. Progress has been slowed to a crawl by the Enemy. They come at night. They come in swarms. They come from the sky. Though they are creatures of death, they are very alive. If you're not strong enough, not fast enough, not smart enough, they will eat you. kill them before they kill you. Head, heart. Cut until you see dust. Defend yourself. Defend your family. Fight to live.
The human race still lives in villages, in clans. All men and women must train to kill, to survive. the Enemy preys on the weak, the elderly, the diseased, the deformed. As long as there has been Man, there has been the Enemy. Fire is our only ally in the dark. Where do they come from? Why are there so many? Why are they so easy to kill? There is no science. Only the kill.
"The tree that is humanity needs pruning."
"Humanity needs an enemy."

Andropolis

When I saw Stepford Wives, I thought "No man would murder his wife and replace her with a robot!" It made no sense. If the world did that, the human species would die out in a generation. I also saw a film called The Last Man on Planet Earth. A society where men are "extinct", and the culture it produces. So then I came up with this idea:

A thousand years or so into the future, human society took a very different turn. Women's rights are non-existent. Women are property; like houses. At birth, females are relieved of their arms and legs (they don't need them) and lobotomized, leaving no higher brain functions. They're given serial numbers instead of names. They're all lined up and hooked up to machines to keep them alive. Once they hit menopause, they're discarded with the trash. Men live in peace and comfort. They are divided into two classes: Renters and Owners. Owners sometimes lease their "gyns" to Renters who can't afford their own. Zax (Zac Efron) is leasing his first gyn; it's a rite of passage. He rents from Magistrate Kreetoph (Christopher Plummer) an old and powerful Owner with 20+ gyns. A firm believer in the "way of life" and the film's antagonist. Zax loses his virginity to Gyn #8479-21. As he does, he looks into her vacant eyes and falls in love with her. He calls her Nora (gyns are forbidden to be given names). Zax convinces himself there is a human being deep inside and decides to steal her. Kreetoph is furious to find his property missing. Zax is instantly a fugitive in his own nation. Possible twist: there is a resistance unknown to the public; freedom fighters. Some gyns are born and never processed. Some somehow get their limbs and minds back. Will "Nora" ever be whole again?

Chronosphere

One particular plot device pisses me off to no end: time travel. Hiro Nakamura travels back in time to change the past, but instead of doing what he intends to do, he either does nothing or creates the past he already experienced. What a crock! If God gave me the power to time-travel, why can't I use them? So, let's ask him!

A scientist obsesses about the time/space continuum. Eventually, he cracks the code; through pure comprehension and willpower, he transcends time and space. He decides it is his purpose and responsibility to fix the world. But he's sloppy. Though he starts small, his mistakes throw the world into chaos... that's when God intervenes. He comes down and fixes everything. This scientist meets God, face to face.

This TV series is about the big questions: chance vs design, fate vs free will. The scientist rebels while God tries to guide. Other elements come into play, and sometimes the scientist has to use his power to do God's work. Several concepts are explored: the butterfly effect, grandfather paradox, etc.

The Cherry Popper

For those who never saw it, the original Gidget is about a dorky teen (Sandra Dee) who isn't cool until she loses her virginity. Throughout the film, Gidget is trying to get laid. This was filmed in 1959, so I'm assuming this was a big deal. This might be the first beach party movie ever, but the concept sparked my interest. Inspired by stories about more than one friend of mine concerning their first sexual experiences, I came up with Johnny Sweets. This is a raunchy teen film idea, but the premise might be a little out there:

Johnny Sweets lost his virginity when he was 14. A middle-aged woman in his neighborhood took total advantage of him, jumped him and used him like meat. When he told his friends at school, they worshipped him like a god. They called him Player and Pimp and he became the most popular boy in school. Johnny learned from this that when it comes to sex, everyone is just meat and he decided it was his duty to spare female virgins from such a horrible experience.

Flash forward: Johnny is a high school senior and the go-to guy for girls who want losing their virginity to be a positive experience. Every girl who's ever been with Johnny (none of which were his girlfriend) says he is the best thing that's ever happened to virgins. Amanda (the Gidget character) employs his services.

Lesson #1: Being comfortable with the human body. A naked session. Amanda's encouraged to be naked while Johnny already is. No touch, no talk.

Lesson #2: Exploring your sexuality. Johnny presents Amanda with an arsenal of sex toys, all shapes and sizes. He encourages her to experiment with them all.

Lesson #3: Dealing with people. A fake date with Johnny playing several roles: the creepy stalker, the filthy pig, the love-sick nerd. Amanda is suppoed to learn how to deal with every situation.

When Amanda finishes the course, Johnny is to deflower her. The whole time Amanda is NOT supposed to fall in love with Johnny, and while he does his job, no one can get close to him. Will Amanda manage to win Johnny's heart or will she become just another satisfied customer?

"You don't have to be in love. You don't even have to like eachother. What's important is respect. That, and common coutesy. Men are pigs; so enjoy your lean ham!"
"Sex is like food. We all need it. We all have a biological craving for it. For the gluttons, it can be hazardous to your health. For the starving, cardboard can taste like ambrosia. We all have our tastes. Sometimes you're in the mood for Mexican, or Chinese or Italian. If you're lucky, you'll find your favorite dish. A meal so delicious, so satisfying, you'll think you'll never need to eat anything else again! But someday, you'll think as much as you love filet mignon, you've been eating it every night for a year, and tonight you're craving a burger! Sometimes you just need some spice; a new flavor. Salt, pepper, hot sauce, soy sauce, Parmesan. Some people just love the taste of Parmesan. I don't care what you put under it, just gimme my cheese!"
"The world is full of creeps and perverts. You can't change people. You can't change the world. But you can change yourself. Educate yourself, be prepared, have the right attitude."
"I didn't live up to my rep. I became the jerk who broke your heart. I promised myself I would never be that to anyone."

Project Canis

I love vampire and werewolf stories. I love Buffy, I love True Blood, I love Underworld (the first one anyway, the sequels I can live without), I love The Vampire Chronicles. Van Helsing was just fun! Twilight is OK, for the teeny boppers. But I have yet to have a favorite werewolf story. Most involve living with a monster inside of you that you can't control and can't claim. Teen Wolf was too silly. Blood & Chocolate I really liked, but too much of a chick-flick. BUT, my favorite creature effects and  concepts, are from Van Helsing, Underworld, and Skinwalkers. So, I wanted to write a werewolf story that really glorified the werewolf, the way the vampire has been. This story isn't finished, but I imagine a happy ending...

PS I dedicate this story to a dog I once knew, Wynston. He's a beautiful animal and a sweetheart.

Jeth & Bert

This story is my baby. I was sitting in intro radio/TV/film class one day and, being a gay man, wondered how I would explain to a child (specifically my cousins) what being a homo means. I thought something like, "You know in those Disney movies where the prince and the princess fall in love and live happily ever after? Well, why not two princes?" I saw The Little Mermaid when I was 4, and it still holds a special place in my heart. And just like that, a whole story blossomed in my brain! I was inspired! I wrote my first script in another class, but I'm currently working on rewriting it. If one project of mine gets done in my life, it has to be this one, and it has to be GOOD. So here it is...
